Trivia

Origin

Lamedian's appearance is based on that of a rakugo comedian. Rakugo is a form of entertainment in which a lone performer, sitting on a zabuton (square sitting cushion) and with only a paper fan as a prop, tells a comical story interpreting two or more characters by themselves. This format is used in the long-running TV show Shōten, where comedians take turns telling stories and are awarded an extra zabuton to sit on if their story is deemed funny. Because of that show, sometimes the phrase "Have a zabuton!" is colloquially used to mean "Hah, good joke!"

Name Origin

  • "Lamedian"' is a portmanteau of lame and comedian. "Oshisshou" is a play on oshishou (teacher/master, said with respect) and shisshou (giggles, sudden laughter).
