Horror of Dracunyan
It’s time for Halloween, and after a short introduction by Whisper, the scene transitions to a foggy town at night. A cat is in an alley eating a discarded chocolate bar, when an oddly familiar vampire grabs it and bites it, transforming it into some sort of Yo-kai.
Elsewhere, Nate and his friends are walking down a street festooned with Halloween decorum. Lots of people are already dressed up in classic monster outfits, and Nate notes out that it’d be tough to spot a Yo-kai between all the weird costumes. However, Whisper points out that the Yo- kai love Halloween because they can come out in the open, and indeed when Nate looks again there are Yo-kai all over the place mingling among the humans.
Back at home, Whisper and Jibanyan are suggesting costumes for Nate, since he promised to wear one for Katie. However, Nate’s feeling a bit sleepy so he decides to take a nap. He wakes up much later than he expected to, with just 5 minutes before he’s supposed to meet his friends. When he comes downstairs, he finds his mom acting weird in some kind of costume. However, he soon finds out it’s not a costume—she’s turned into some kind of cat-headed monster, and is trying to suck his blood!
Jibanyan manages to save Nate at the last second, and they escape from Nate’s house. Jibanyan explains that Nate’s mom had been bitten by Dracunyan, turning her into a Dracunyan as well—just like how vampires turn their victims. Nate has no time to catch his breath though, as the Dracunyans continue their pursuit.
Nate finally manages to escape by hiding behind a large sign, and after a short discussion with Jibanyan and Whisper, the three of them are ambushed by figures in black cloaks! Nate thinks it’s all over, but it’s actually just his friends in disguise. They’re confused about what’s happening, so Nate explains it’s the work of the Yo-kai Dracunyan. The group has to move carefully in order to not attract any attention from the Dracunyans, and after they reach a safe place, Nate spills everything he knows on Dracunyan.
Dracunyan was formerly a cat who loved chocolate bars, however one day Dracula bit him and he became a “cat vampire.” From that day forward he could only consume blood, not his favorite chocolate bars, and out of jealousy he planned to turn everyone else into Dracunyans. The only way to stop him is to find the original Dracunyan, and there’s also a cure to turn people back to normal.
However, as they soon find out, finding the original isn’t going to be that easy because all of the Dracunyans look exactly identical. Jibanyan notes that the original Dracunyan loves Next HarMEOWny, so they might be able to use the idol group to figure out the real Dracunyan. However, when they try their plan to lure out the original Dracunyan with a signed band poster, all of the Dracunyans chase after them—even the clones like Next HarMEOWny.
The group escapes to the school, where they discover some of their friends also hiding from the Dracunyans—however without warning, they suddenly turn into Dracunyans even without being bitten! And even worse, Bear suddenly turns too. Eddie quickly realizes it’s become an airborne virus, so the remaining 3 promise to save Bear and then quickly escape before they become infected too.
Inside the school, Nate explains how to make the cure. It involves garlic, moldy bread, and salt. Eddie and Katie get the garlic and moldy bread, but suddenly they also begin turning into Dracunyans. After a tearful goodbye, Nate leaves his friends behind and heads to a nearby arena to put his plan into action. There’s supposed to be a Next HarMEOWny concert that night, so Nate is banking on the Dracunyans showing up.
Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan mix together the cure, and dramatically march down a hallway carrying hoses to presumably blast the Dracunyans with the antidote. When they get up on the stage it’s completely dark—when suddenly the lights turn on, revealing an audience packed with Dracunyans! Realizing it’s now or never, the trio blasts the audience with their cure. But their cure has an unexpected result—it turns everyone into Manjimutt!!
Now everyone in the entire town is Manjimutt, and Nate realizes they’ve made things even worse when the Manjimutts start trying to break into his house! Nate shouts in frustration—and suddenly he wakes up in his bed. Nate is relieved to find out the whole thing was just a weird dream. Whisper tells him it’s about time to go see his friends, and the episode ends with Jibanyan in a vampire costume lunging toward the screen.
