Hangin' With Mr. Crabbycat: Lesson 2
There’s a fight outside Mr. Nyanpachi’s classroom. Roughraff and Mad Mountain are having a scrap about a bump in the hallway. Nyanpachi breaks it up and says Mad Mountain should be forgiven so Roughraff can have a big heart. But then the mountain sumos down the hall and steps on the teacher’s paw and finds himself in exactly Roughraff’s old position. And Komasan has to keep his boss from laying hands on a student.
Later, Jibanyan is sitting in his office watching in horror as Watermelnayn eats watermelon slices and talks about his students.
In class, Roughraff is reading manga and reacting at maximum volume. When his teacher confronts him, he picks a fight. They go head-to- head so forcefully, they fuse to create Baddinyan.
Every Cold Has Its Thorn(yan)
Jibanyan is sick. He caught a cold, and it turned him into the green and spiky Thornyan, While he, Nate and Whisper try to figure out what’s happening, Thornyan sneezes and fires his thorns out of his head. Nate dodges them like Neo, but Whisper get a thorn between the eyes.
The cat still isn’t aware of what happened until Nate holds him up in front of a mirror. Whisper looks it up, and he says Jibanyan just morphs into Thornyan when he catches a cold. Nate resolves to heal his friend and turn him back to normal. He wants to give him regular cold medicine, but Whisper says he needs yo-kai healing, so he takes the lead. The butler dumps ice into the catcus’s mouth to lower his fever. Having a faceful of ice instead of an ice pack on his head makes Thornyan sneeze again, and Whisper takes another thorn in the face.
Whisper’s next cure is vitamin C. He takes a lemon and squeezes it into Thornyan’s nose. Hidabat peeks out to see what’s up just in time to see another sneeze. He gets his in addition to Whisper this time. Whisper keeps failing, so he asks Nate to call on Blazion. Whisper needs Blazion to set Thornyan on fire to break the fever. But another sneeze hits everyone except Nate. And Whisper gets hit in both eyes. This time, Hidabat and Blazion grow their own thorns too. They all sneeze together and happen to turn Whisper into a pincushion with no cure in sight.
Yo-kai Sandmeh
Nate and Bear are buying Eddie a birthday present. Even Jibanyan and Whisper are hyped up for the party. But, at Eddie’s house, the birthday boy already received a new bike from his parents and wasn’t so impressed.
The boys arrive at the house, and Nate’s surprised it’s just them. Eddie’s parents are working like they always are. That subject peters out, so Nate and Bear present their gift to Eddie, and he appreciates it, so they go straight to cake. The birthday cake is huge and decorated ornately. Bear suggest they don’t cut the cake at all but just eat it as is together. But Nate foresees Bear hogging the cake and suggests normal cutting. They ask Eddie what he wants to do and is completely amenable to both ideas somehow.
Nate obviously sees the yo-kai potential of the situation, and spots Sandmeh, who makes Eddie just be O.K. with anything.
Nate counters this possession with Komasan. They’re both kind and polite, so they talk it out. Sandmeh was attracted to Eddie because he’s so meek. Even though he wants his parents to celebrate his birthday with him, he has to pretend like it’s no problem, and Sandmeh helps him with that. But Komasan wonders if Eddie wouldn’t have an even better life if he had more chances to get what he wants. Sandmeh does admit there’s a part of Eddie’s personality he can’t access, so he invites everyone into his mind to see what’s up. Eddie does have a sad and scared part of himself that he covers up by being polite.Nate helps the door unlock by telling Eddie that he needs to ask for what he wants so he can sometimes get it.
This snaps him out of his Sandmeh problem and he calls his parents to really tell them how he feels. And they hurry home because he expressed himself. And he does finally get to celebrate with his family.
