Yo-kai Watch Episode 51 is an episode of Yo-kai Watch Anime. It consists of The Wandering Orochi: Act 2: The Base of Fea, Yo-kai Tsuchinoko Panda and Yo-kai Daraketō stories.

Part 1: The Wandering Orochi: Act 2: The Base of Fear

Venoct is on the hunt again, looking for Red J. This time he’s come straight to Nate’s house and is once again chatting up Jibanyan. Jibanyan is reading a comic book and barely paying attention just like last time, as Venoct describes the place where Red J apparently lives. Venoct claims it is a dark castle where Red J’s numerous henchmen reside—all of which sound suspiciously like the residents of Nate’s house.

Venoct runs through several fantastical descriptions of Nate’s dad, mom, Nate himself, and even Whisper. Finally, Venoct asks Jibanyan if he has any idea where Red J’s hideout might be—even though it’s definitely Nate’s house that Venoct is standing right inside of. Jibanyan blows him off per usual and Venoct jumps out the window once more, returning to his quest for a showdown with Red J.

Part 2: Yo-kai Tsuchinoko Panda

Katie and her friends at the park are discussing how the hottest trend lately has been pandas. However, on the other side of the park, Nate’s buddies are chatting about how tsuchinoko are bound to be the most popular upcoming trend. However, Katie’s group overhears Eddie and they insist that pandas are where it’s at this year.

This quickly escalates into a confrontation between the two groups. Nate has remained neutral in the debate so far, but the two factions are now demanding that he pick a side. While Nate is weighing his options, Jibanyan and Whisper discuss how the worst thing for Nate to say would be “either is fine”… which is exactly what Nate does say, upsetting both sides.

Later, Nate is walking down the street with Jibanyan and Whisper when the trio suddenly bumps into Pandanoko! Pandanoko is confused about whether it’s really a panda or a tsuchinoko, but Nate thinks that because he’s actually a little bit of both, he’d be even more popular. Contrary to Nate’s idea, Tsuchinoko actually isn’t popular at all—only regular pandas and tsuchinoko are popular.

Whisper suggests that Pandanoko learn more about pandas and tsuchinoko in order to decide which one it is. So, Nate and co. first decide to visit a “panda fan club meeting” where everybody dresses up as a panda and dances around. The club members are all too eager to get Nate suited up as a panda, and within moments Nate and Pandanoko are dancing on stage.

After the panda club’s warm reception, next up is the tsuchinoko club. Similar to the panda fanclub, everyone dresses up like tsuchinoko and engage in lively song and dance. Nate and Pandanoko join in the merriment and have some fun up on the stage once again. Afterward, Pandanoko is still unsure about which side to choose.

As the group deliberates, Jibanyan suddenly shouts in joy—a Next HarMEOWny rehearsal is going on nearby! Two of the girls take a liking to Pandanoko’s fusion of panda and tsuchinoko aesthetics, and they quickly decide they should do a collaboration with Pandanoko. Jibanyan is naturally very jealous of Pandanoko’s collaboration with his favorite band.

Later, Pandanoko is on stage with Next HarMEOWny, performing together with them in a huge concert. It’s a big hit and everyone realizes that it was silly to be divided over pandas/tsuchinoko when they could just have the best of both worlds. Pandanoko also hands over its Yo-kai Medal to Nate before heading off to get on the bus to the next concert. Suddenly, Jibanyan runs in with his own idea for a “collaboration” that’s just a ripoff of Pandanoko. It seems the fame has already gone to Pandanoko’s head, as it snubs Jibanyan before slithering off.

Part 3: Yo-kai Cutta-nah

Nate’s dad is about to head off to work, even though its New Year’s Day and he should probably be taking it easy. On the other hand, Nate’s mom is so comfy on the couch she’s practically melting into it—actually, Nate finds out that she really is melting into it. This is obviously the work of a Yo-kai, and it turns out to be Cutta-nah causing Nate’s mom to melt into a literal puddle of laziness.

After Whisper gives an explanation of how Cutta-nah causes people to be lazy, Nate’s mom starts laying down—which Whisper indicates is the worst possible case, as if someone under Cutta-nah’s influence lays down, they’ll melt away. Nate panics, so Whisper suggests putting ice on her to stop her from melting. This doesn’t really help at all, so the obvious solution is just to get rid of Cutta-nah.

Nate whips out the Yo-kai Watch Type Zero and summons Jibanyan to handle this problem, but Jibanyan is already under Cutta-nah’s influence and decides to just lay on the floor instead. Desperate, Nate just grabs onto Cutta-nah, and accidentally pushes a button that causes the “laziness level” to drop. Jibanyan and Nate’s mom recover immediately, but when Nate presses the button again, the laziness level goes up to maximum!!

Nate quickly pushes the button to drop the laziness down to the minimum level, bringing his mom and Jibanyan back to a safe level of laziness. Nate sees that his dad is about to head off to work, and decides to have Cutta-nah inspirit his dad so that he’ll stay home from work and enjoy New Years instead. Nate’s dad almost melts from the maximum laziness setting—but fortunately quickly recovers when the setting is dropped, and decides to spend the day at home with his family instead.
