Springdale Five-Yo: Episode 5 'Shake a Tail'
Whisper continues to be salty about Komasan’s success. The bar graph tracking arrests keeps needing extra paper to show Komasan’s collars. His excuse is that all the criminals around have been easy, but he has a big league suspect in his sights now. This suspect is an international con artist, and has allegedly defrauded people of their money across the world. Komasan wants to arrest him right away, but Whisper insists the guy is too clever, so there’s no evidence to arrest him. They’re going to tail him and wait for evidence to appear, but the suspect already noticed he’s being followed.
To remain stealth, Whisper morphs into a middle-aged salaryman disguise. Komasan puts on a beat cop’s uniform. The suspect then listens to a whole argument about how smart he is, but how he looks like he’s spacing out anyway. Komasan changes into a clown costume, and Whisper thinks that’s too noticeable. But it wouldn’t be if this guy really does just stare into space. Whisper is extra complimentary about this man’s genius, but Komasan can’t buy it. They argue back and forth until the suspect can’t take it and confesses out of frustrated pride. Komasan cuffs him.
Yo-kai Yoodooit
Keita is having a nice day off reading manga, but his mother really really needs help downstairs. She needs him to fold laundry because her hands are busy. Then she needs him to head to the post office because her hands are still busy. When he gets home, she’s on the couch eating cookies and drinking tea, but she asks Keita to change the channel for her because her hands are so busy. She keeps asking Keita to do all kinds of tasks because of how busy her hands are, so he calls yo-kai. And finds a blue-skinned sage called Yoodooit floating around on a pillow. This yo-kai inspirits people and forces them make other people do everything for them.
Keita has to get his mom back to normal, so he summons Jibanyan to fight back. Which is weird because he lives in the house. Yoodooit leaves Keita’s mother to fight, and she rushes out to do some shopping. The first move Yoodooit makes it to control Keita to fight Jibanyan for him. Jibanyan promises to fight with all his strength even though he has to fight his friend. But Keita hasn’t fought before, and Whisper says this gives Jibanyan an advantage. So, the sage possesses Whisper too, to even it up.
Jibanyan doesn’t care. He plows through his friends with paws of fury. The two defeated friends reason that they lost, so Yoodooit lost. And they laugh lying flat on the floor. Jibanyan wakes the old yo-kai up to collect his medal, but Yoodooit makes Jibanyan deliver it for him. Keita and Yoodooit keep using Jibanyan as a messenger for a little bit longer until Jibanyan flexes out of the spell.
Yo-kai Enerfly
There’s a huge line outside the bakery, and Kanchi is there waiting for a fresh baked melon bread. He’s the second person in line with one left. He thinks it’s over when a golden light shines down on him, and the man in front of him changes his mind about what he wants. Kenchi lucks out and gets his melon bread. When he’s walking down the street letter, he crosses paths with a mean-looking dog who, after the golden light reappears, falls in love with him and wants to play. After that, he goes to meet Keita and Kuma because he wants to enter a raffle with all his good luck. The boys all want to win the all-you- can-eat yakiniku prize, but decide it’s probably almost impossible. But Kanchi commits to winning in his mind.
When the raffle starts, both Keita and Kuma only win tissues. When Kenchi takes his spin, the light shines again, and a gold ball snakes around the white ball that was going to come out and he wins the yakiniku prize. But he’s getting worried. He says it’s too weird that only good things have happened to him all day, and thinks he’s been saving up misfortune. Luckily, his breakdown occurs next to Keita, who knows what yo-kais feel like. Keita finds a pink, barrel chested butterfly hovering above his friend, and Whisper identifies it as Enerfly. This yo-kai inspirits people and puts them in top condition, especially in terms of luck. Whisper even claims Enerfly has cause every Nobel laureate to win their prize.
That sell works for Keita, and he begs Enerfly to inspirit him too, but he scares the butterfly away and ends up tackling Kanchi. The boys go to get ice cream, and they’re followed by Enerfly, who makes Kanchi the 10000th customer, winning him a year of free ice cream. Keita resolves to defeat Enerfly by summoning Buhu to counteract Kanchi’s crazy good luck. She’s a bird, so Keita asks her to catch the bug and bring it to him. Enerfly is just barely too fast for Buhu. and they zip off into the distance.
After a second, the silhouette of a butterfly comes down in front of the sun and finally inspirits Keita. At the same time, Keita sees Fumika talking to the other two guys, and he runs to her thinking something amazing will happen, but she breaks off their friendship on the spot. Because Keita’s butterfly is Enefly, who makes people lose friends while they’re possessed. All of Keita’s friends leave to eat grilled meat without him.
