Part 1: Springdale Five-Yo: Episode 2 - The Ransom
This episode opens with Whisper explaining what a police patrol light is to Komasan. Right as they’re talking, they get an emergency call regarding a kidnapping, so they rush to the scene. A company president has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom, so it’s up to the detectives to negotiate and figure out where the kidnapper is.
Whisper suggests setting up a call tracer but Komasan picks up the phone before it’s been set up and messes up the phone call. Next, once they’ve got the tracer set up… Komasan picks it up again and tells the kidnapper that he’s talking to the police without even thinking about it. Finally, on the third call, Whisper tells Komasan that he needs to draw out the conversation—which Komasan interprets as “talk extremely slowly.”
The detective pair gets into an argument over this, and the kidnapper gets so irritated with them that he actually runs right into the room where the police are! Naturally he is arrested, and the case is solved—although it certainly wasn’t according to plan, as Whisper points out.
Part 2: Yo-kai Pandle
Nate has just finished seeing a samurai movie he really enjoyed. After a short talk with Whisper about being a bodyguard, he heads home only to find that the front door’s been left over. Then, he finds his mom’s wallet just lying around on the stairs, and the bank book has been carelessly left out in the living room too. Whisper notes that all kinds of things in the house have been carelessly left open and suggests that a thief has broken into the house—but of course, Nate thinks it’s a Yo-kai.
When Nate’s mom arrives home, Nate focuses the Yo-kai Watch on her and reveals the Yo-kai Pandle following her around! Consulting his Yo-kai Pad, Whisper reveals that Pandle makes people carelessly leave things lying around. Having been seen , Pandle takes off running out of Nate’s house and into the street. Nate and Whisper have to chase after him, as Whisper points out that Pandle could cause all kinds of havoc by making people careless.
When Nate finally tracks him down, Pandle zaps him… but nothing seems to have happened. Pandle immediately hands over his Yo-kai Medal and Whisper suggests that Pandle just wanted to meet Nate since he’s sort of a celebrity among the Yo-kai now. However, when Katie shows up, Nate realizes what Pandle really did—his fly is wide open! After Nate’s embarrassing moment, Pandle takes off running again, surely to cause more mischief!
Part 3: Yo-kai So-Sorree
Nate and his friends are having lunch at school, when Nate suddenly makes a weird face that causes Katie to spit out her milk… right into Bear’s face, unfortunately. When confronted about his behavior, Nate gives a very bizarre and exaggerated apology. He does the whole thing over again, complete with his weird apology.
Throughout the day, Nate does rude and unkind things to people and then apologizes in an insincere manner. Whisper notices this each time and is obviously suspicious of Nate’s weird behavior. Later, everyone is obviously very upset with Nate, and it looks like “sorry” isn’t going to cut it this time. Nate walks home, wondering why everybody was so angry at him.
Whisper asks Nate if he remembers what he was doing all day, and it turns out Nate doesn’t remember what he was doing or any of his insincere apologies. Suddenly, Nate sneezes right in Whisper’s face and apologizes in the same weird way as before. Whisper points it out and Nate wonders if it’s not a Yo-kai at work. A quick check with the Yo-kai Watch reveals So-Sorree, doing the same weird apology as Nate was earlier.
Whisper explains that So-Sorree causes people to give insincere apologies, or apologize for things that they keep doing. His victims become unpopular because everyone hates their insincere apologies, much like what has happened to poor Nate. Nate confronts So-Sorree, but he just runs away! Nate chases him down and swaps to his Type-Zero watch so he can summon Jibanyan.
As soon as Jibanyan appears, So-Sorree snaps up a bite of his chocolate bar—you’d think Jibanyan would be angry, but he doesn’t seem to mind. After all, he has plenty of them and he took them from Nate anyway. Jibanyan really just doesn’t care, and as usual he’s not going to help Nate. Swapping back to his old watch, Nate summons Blazion to handle So-Sorree.
Even Blazion is annoyed by So-Sorree, so Nate comes up with a plan to give So-Sorree a taste of his own medicine. Blazion sets So-Sorree on fire with his blazing mane, which makes So-Sorree jump into the nearby canal. He’s obviously angry now, but Nate and co. just give him the same insincere apology, much to his frustration!
