Yo-kai Espy
Nate, Bear and Eddie are sitting on the swing set looking downcast. Nate recalls an incident earlier in the day when Katie announced his low test score to the entire class, somehow without knowing it. Eddie relates a similar story about how Katie announced his desire to be a boy band member, and Bear talks about how Katie blurted out Bear’s feelings for his crush right in front of her!
Eddie suggests that somehow Katie has become a psychic, and that the gang needs to think about nothing when she’s near. Later, Nate is trying to rush home to avoid Katie, only to run straight into her! Panicking, Nate realizes that it’s gotta be a Yo-kai doing something weird to Katie. Using the Yo-kai Watch reveals Espy, but she suddenly starts reading everyone’s minds out loud!
Nate’s got no idea how to stop Espy from randomly reading everyone’s minds, when suddenly he realizes he has to visit the restroom—badly! Espy seems to pick up on his thought and seems quite embarrassed by it. Nate realizes that thinking about weird/unpleasant things is the key to victory, so he starts thinking about something… “very disturbing.”
Espy’s modesty eventually gets the best of her and she gets so embarrassed that she can’t deal with it any more, flying away… and leaving her Yo-kai Medal behind. What was Nate thinking about to make her so embarrassed? Pulling his pants up and down rapidly, of course.
Yo-kai Peckpocket
It’s lunchtime at school and Nate and co. are enjoying lunch together. Eddie reminds Bear to give him back a video game that he let Bear borrow, when suddenly Bear snatches a chicken nugget from Eddie’s plate. Later, the trio is outside when suddenly Bear snatches up a soccer ball that some other kids were playing with.
Nate notices that Bear’s acting awfully strange, so he uses the Yo-kai Watch to reveal Peckpocket! Peckpocket causes people to steal things indiscriminately, without any regard to what kind of thing they are stealing. That’s going to be a problem, so after a bit of a fuss with Whisper, Nate summons Jibanyan to handle Peckpocket.
Jibanyan’s lazy as usual but a quick pep talk from Nate gets him going. He uses Paws of Fury on Peckpocket but this backfires and Peckpocket steals all of Jibanyan’s chocolate bars. Embarrassed and defeated, Jibanyan dashes off.
Next up is Tengloom who doesn’t seem interested in helping at all, and Peckpocket quickly steals even the clothes off Tengloom’s back. Looks like Nate’s got to bust out the big guns so he summons Roughraff who orders Peckpocket to jump, causing the chocolate bars to fall out of his feathers. Roughraff grabs them and takes them back… but Peckpocket instantly snatches them back.
The two Yo-kai repeat this cycle of theft for a very long time, and by the time they’re done the sun is setting. For whatever reason, Peckpocket and Roughraff are friends now, and Peckpocket also gives Nate his Yo-kai Medal. The episode ends as Peckpocket and Roughraff walk off together… was this really a good idea?
Komasan in Love Episode 5
Picking up where the last episode left off, Komasan is sitting in the coffee shop with the young comic book illustrator. She’s considering giving up her career in comic books, because she thinks she can’t make it in the industry writing comics about Yo-kai. Komasan wants to reveal his Yo-kai identity but he’s still afraid she’ll freak out.
Eventually the two of them touch hands while reaching to grab a cookie, and suddenly Komasan regains a lost memory. He remembers one day when he was standing at the shrine, a little girl and her grandmother walked by the statue that Komasan liked to stand under. While the grandmother is unable to see Komasan, the little girl can see him, and waves her ice cream in front of him.
It turns out that Komasan and the young comic book artist actually met before, and this memory was of the first time they met. The young lady thinks she was just seeing things when she was younger, and that she was a fool for believing in Yo-kai for so long based on her experience.
Komasan has finally had enough, asserting that Yo-kai really do exist and telling her about all the different kinds of Yo-kai. Finally, Komasan has the courage to take off his leaf, revealing his true form to the young lady. Taken aback, she realizes that Komasan is the Yo-kai she met as a little girl, and she hugs him out of joy.
The young lady is struck with inspiration and wants to draw Komasan as the hero for her next comic book… but before she can, Komasan has vanished!
Later, back at home, Komasan is excitedly getting ready to read her new comic, thinking that she surely wrote a romantic story about him. To Komasan’s surprise, she actually drew Komasan as a terrifying monster. Despite the young illustrator’s rather scary interpretation of Komasan, he reflects fondly on his fleeting romance with the young lady, and the story comes to a close with Komasan realizing that he enjoys the taste of coffee now!
