Players can create new and powerful Yo-kai by evolving and fusing preexisting ones. 43 Yok-kai can be created through Evolution and Fusion.

Yo-kai Watch 1
Evolution transforms a pre-existing Yo-kai to a more powerful entity with a different name and appearance. In Yo-kai Watch, 15 Yo-kai can evolve, each evolving at different levels. While evolving, players can cancel the evolution. The Yo-kai will have another shot at evolving when it reaches the next level.

General Information
Fusion creates a new and powerful Yo-kai by fusing 2 existing Yo-kai or 1 Yo-kai and an item. Players can perform Fusion by speaking to Mr. Zen at the Shoten Temple in Blossom Heights. Fusion is unlocked in Chapter 5 of story.

Soul Fusion

Souls can be fused to make them more powerful. When you fuse 2 souls, the first soul becomes more powerful while you lose the 2nd soul. When the soul's EXP bar fills up, it levels up. Your soul gains bonus EXP from fusion if you fuse 2 souls of same type.

Fusing certain Souls will create a brand new Soul.

Fusing 2 Yo-kai
12 new Yo-kai are created by fusing 2 Yo-kai. The level of new Yo-kai is the sum of source Yo-kai divided by 2.
Fusing 1 Yo-kai and 1 Item
16 new Yo-kai are created by fusing a Yo-kai and an item. The level of the new Yo-kai is the same as the source Yo-kai.
Fusing 2 Items
Players can fuse 2 items to create a more powerful equipment.
